Michigan is wildly interesting.

One of my favorite things is learning why.

Hi, I’m Alexis.

I’m a science communicator, writer, and artist based in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. I’ve been making educational YouTube videos for nearly a decade, but in 2021, I finally started investigating some of the stories directly outside my door, in the state of Michigan. Turns out, this place is outrageously interesting, and I love learning how things got to be the way they are.

Here, you’ll find information on me, what I do, and how we could work together (if you’re thinking about that). I recommend starting with one of these buttons.

How They Made This Record-Breaking Bridge

Building the Portage Lake Bridge required some serious feats of engineering, from floating a structure twice as long as a whale into a tiny gap, to sending workers into a pit full of high-pressure air. Here's the story I wish I knew the first time I saw this bridge.

This video is one of my favorite projects as of late and represents the kind of content I love to make. All research, writing, video editing, hosting, filming, and animations were done by me (unless otherwise noted).
